DEWITT COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY RESEARCH POLICY
1. For a nonrefundable fee of $10.00 for D.C.G.S members or $15.00 for nonmembers, volunteers will search the holdings of the society's library for one family surname. If a request requires research of additional surnames, the charge will be $5.00 for each additional surname for D.C.G.S. members or $10.00 for each additional surname for non-members.
A person requesting a copy of one obituary (when the exact date is provided) will be charged $3.00 which includes mailing.
2. Please be as specific as possible when making research requests, including dates and pedigree charts, if available.
3. Copy charges are 25 cents per page.
4. The society will provide a list of persons willing to do further research, if requested.
The DeWitt County Genealogical Society was formed in 1974 with the purpose of discovering, collecting and preserving genealogical and related historical materials about the people of DeWitt County. It is also our purpose to make these materials accessible to researchers. We are a non-profit society.
Our Society's library is housed at the Vespasian Warner Public Library in Clinton, Illinois and contains an extensive collection of genealogical and historical materials about DeWitt County, as well as other Illinois counties and other states.
Society Members are available every Thursday to assist you in your research 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or on other days, check at the circulation desk for access to the room. Please call ahead to 217-935-5174 to insure that someone will be available to assist you in your research on days other than Thursday.
The general public is welcome to attend our meetings which is the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
There is no meeting in August.

Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM
Closed Sunday and Holidays
Closed December 24th & Closed
at noon on December 31st.
Also closed for the APPLE & PORK FESTIVAL which is the last full weekend in September.
We are located in the lower level of the Vespasian Warner Library located at 310 N. Quincy Street, Clinton Illinois.
